Sara Ghebremichael, MPA
Director
Sara brings 12 years of experience in the nonprofit sector. In her nonprofit leadership roles, she has strengthened social service organizations during periods of change by creating and implementing systems that support accountability and program success, notably in the areas of performance appraisal, program evaluation, data management and service documentation.
Sara has secured and managed federal, state and foundation grants, ensuring program compliance and meaningful outcomes for the populations served. Most recently, she helped secure and manage a 21st Century Community Learning Centers award to promote positive youth development through out-of-school time programs. In addition to youth development programs focused on engagement with the outdoors, she has also provided administrative management in the field of substance abuse treatment.
Sara is passionate about alleviating the effects income inequality by providing access to opportunities that promote healthy and happy lives. She most enjoys building a culture of learning and feedback within an organization to draw out the unique strengths of each contributor.
Sara holds a Master’s in Public Administration with a focus in Nonprofit Management and Social Policy from American University School of Public Affairs and a Bachelor’s degree in American Studies with Ethnic Studies concentration from Wesleyan University. Sara is a native Washingtonian.
